Hi, my husband died nearly a year ago. I found him dead. I tried CPR, paramedics came.....He had no history of heart problems. However, that day he apparently was feeling sick all day--he went to play badminton, stuck it out a couple hours then went home before finishing the last game of the morning. He went to our room about noon, presumably to rest/sleep. He came out about 2;00 Am and asked a gal that lived with us to help him find ibuprofen. They did not find it. I saw it in Master bathroom later.. I don't know if he saw it and took one. Anyway, here is the question...after another statement or two. I felt like he died of a heart attack. However, except for some high chloresterol, he was well. Others agreed. In fact, he worked a very physically demanding job--then he would come home and work around the house, played badminton 3 times a week for 6 hours total. Before autopsy was performed, the medical examiner asked his Dr to sign the death certificate. It was to say in fancy medical language--heart attack. HIS DR REFUSED TO SIGN IT. DR. SAID HE WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION. The medical examiner gave me the opportunity to do an autopsy. I did have it done. Autopsy came back.
Here is the summary:
Cardiomegaly
95% stenosis of the bifurcation of the left anterior descending and obtuse marginal coronary arteries and the right coronary artery
80% stenosis of the distal left anterior descending and obtuse marginal coronary arteries.
Arterial and arteriolar nephrosclerosis
HERE IS MY QUESTION: IN NOVEMBER OF 2014, HE STEPPED ON A NAIL AT WORK. IT CAUSED A BONE INFECTION. HE TOOK HEAVY ORAL DOSES OF ANTI-BIOTICS. THEN HE TOOK iv ANTIBIOTICS DAILY, THEN HE TOOK MORE KINDS OF iv MEDICINES DAILY PLUS WORE A PUMP THAT WENT ON TO PUMP FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, AN ANTIBIOTIC EVERY 6 HOURS. AFTER THAT, HE ENDED UP WITH C-DIFF,
THEN HE WAS ON VANCOMYCIN FOR A FEW MONTHS 2 PLUS MONTHS OR MORE.
MY QUESTION IS, COULD HIS DEATH BEEN PRECIPITATED BY THE DAMAGE DONE TO HIS KIDNEYS FROM THE ANTI-BIOTICS FOR BONE INFECTION. IN OTHER WORDS, WAS HIS DEATH CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT? (NAIL IN FOOT AT WORK) IT IS IMPORTANT, BECAUSE THEN HIS INSURANCE POLICY PAYS TWICE THE AMOUNT.
