Hi, my husband is trached, mute but attentive with a head injury. A physiatrist of a well-known cognitive rehab has suggested we use botox on the contractures in his hands. What is the probability that he'll have nausea or be unable to swallow? I'm worried about aspirating into the lungs and suspect he doesn't speak -- even with the cuff of the Shiley 8 deflated -- because of mechanical problems I'd rather not add to.
