Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my name is Michael Sampson and I was diagnosed in 2006 with Pancreatic Cancer. I thought that I just had the flu but when I got jaundice I went to the emergency room and was immediately admitted into the hospital for more tests. They told me that my liver was shutting down. I had to give a urine sample and it looked like coffee. Every test that they did came back negative. The next day they did an upper GI and found that there was a blockage where the pancreas dumps into the bile duct. They put a stent in so it could drain and did a biopsy. The biopsy revealed that I did have cancer. The surgeon scheduled me immediately for the whipple procedure. After a second surgery to clean out a massive infection, my surgeon told me that I was cancer free and that I did not need any radiation or chemotherapy. I was only to report to my oncologist every month for the next 5 years. The question is have they found any cures for pancreatic cancer. I am a prime example that you can beat pancreatic cancer since it has been 12 years since my diagnosis. Still cancer free. I thought you would like to read a good report. Thank you for your time.
