Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my name is Nicole and I have extreme light sensitivity that doesn't improve even after being exposed to the sunlight after a long period of time. This has been affecting me since the past 8 months now. I currently wear eye contacts and see my eye doctor regularly. They didn't see anything life threatening but referred me to an eye specialist to double check. The eye specialist also didn't see anything either except for some irritation and some inflammation. I was instructed to stop wearing eye contacts for a while, throw out all my make-up, and clean my eyes regularly along w/ a more intense cleaning regimen for my eye contact lens. In addition, I was put on prescription eye drops for a few months and MD said issue looks as though it has cleared up about 95%. I also felt as though the regimen had worked and light sensitivity was gone. However, it has only been about a month and seems to be back all over again and extreme. The one thing I never mentioned to my doctors was that I smoke marijuana. I believe that may be a culprit. Do you think so and if I continue to smoke marijuana what do you recommend that I do to reduce the light sensitivity?
