Hi, My Name Is Shalewa Alabi. I Am 17 Years

Hi, my name is Shalewa Alabi. I am 17 years old. In December of 2015 I was dancing and I fell on my knee. I felt something pop. I went home and iced it and later on I was able to walk. I did not seek a doctor. Since that incident the same thing has happened about 3 times. The last time was 3 days ago. I was getting up and I twisted my knee in a certain way. This time around I called an ambulance and went to the hospital. The doctor called it a patellar subluxation. I was given crutches and a knee immobilizer as well as pain killers. Do I need to sleep with the immobilizer? And is surgery required to fix this problem? What might be causing the same thing to happen over and over again?
