Hi, Thanks For Taking The Question. A Relative Has "degenerated

Hi, thanks for taking the question. A relative has "degenerated l5 s1 disc with central protrusion indenting the theca."

She had some back pain issues a number of years ago but got pregnant so the doctor said wait until after the pregnancy to treat it. She is about 34, a teacher, with 3 kids who was pretty active and on her feet. All of a sudden one day she could not stand without excruciating pain. She has numbness in her right leg I think. If she puts her leg to the floor it hurts. She has been on bedrest taking shots for the pain. Still after a couple weeks of that she seems no better.

Please what are the normal treatment options for such a problem?

Are there some good online resources for exercise therapies, guidelines, etc.?

What are indications for surgery? Precautions? Things that are to be tried first?

Thank you very much.
