Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 25 years old and I am writing in to get some advice/thoughts. I had a medical abortion performed on May 31st. The first one did not work and as such I did have another medical abortion performed on June 7th. 2 weeks later I still had not had the symptoms of a miscarriage and on June 23rd I had to have a surgical abortion as the medical abortion was not working.
Here is my current issue. I do believe I am pregnant again. If I am, we have decided to keep the baby. We were being extremely careful and this would truly be a miracle baby if I am pregnant. My issue is that when I phoned the clinic and asked to be booked in for a post operative appointment, the lady informed me of the following. 1. If I am pregnant, due to the medication they provide you for the medical abortion it would strongly affect my current pregnancy. 2. She recommended I have another abortion (surgical as my body does not respond to medical) 3. The medication they gave me for the medical abortion is the same as what they give cancer patients. 4. This medication stays in your system for 6 months and as such they recommend you avoid pregnancy for this time.
None of this information was provided to me at my abortion process and I have received all my documents and there is nothing about this inside them.
Is this all true? I am deeply saddened by this information as I do not want to proceed with another abortion.
