Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am at the hospital at the moment and have been for 5 nights as I have been having bad diarrhoea, pain in my abdomen and exhaustion. I have been having funny bowels for the past 3-4 months and was due for a colonoscopy soon however I have had a bad onset of pain/diarrhoea which is what has landed me in hospital. I have had a colonoscopy which showed that I had a couple of small ulcers on my Terminal Ileum. I have also had an endoscopy which showed that I had lots of fluid in my stomach, they are thinking delayed stomach emptying is an issue, and gut motility also. Followed by my endoscopy I also had an MRI which didn't show anything different apart from the ulcers that were seen on the colonoscopy. My CRP levels are increasing (16 last night and 25 today - however they were normal when I arrived in hospital). They took biopsies of the TI and I wont get these results until early/mid next week. The doctors are unsure if I have crohns or not - however they are thinking it could be a possibility.
My questions is how common is it for someone to have ulcers appear on their TI? Would a person usually have these? If someone presents with ulcers how common is it for these to be concluded as "non-specific"? I'm really nervous I have crohns and I want to know what the likelihood of me having this is?
