Hi There My Mom 86 In Hospital Presently With A

Hi there my mom 86 in hospital presently with a L1 vertebrae fracture has developed a red warm round area on the side/top of her outer part of her left foot towards her little toe. This came on suddenly & is painful. She was immobile but now can walk with her back brace on...also wears surgical elastic stockings. They r treating her with antibiotics but this is day 3 & not helping. She is fairly healthy out side of fairly controlled diabetes...metformin 3 times a day & 18 units of insulin injected at bedtime. We r concerned with blood clots as we do have Leiden factor v from one of our parents not sure which one? They now have asked her not to walk on it so we take her for walks by wheelchair. What does this sound like to u?
