Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, this has been the first ever month that my period has been irregular so needless to say I am worried. My last menstrual cycle started Dec.11th 2015. In this month of January I started to have very light brown spotting off and on starting the week of Jan. 13th 2016, around 5 days after my normal period would be. I have had mild cramping everyday and it's not the normal menstrual cramping I get each month. The bleeding eventually progressed to light brown bleeding everyday but it is not heavy or regular enough for me to consider it my normal menstrual cycle. It has been 3 weeks now and I am still bleeding sometimes it's red but mostly brown. There was also a possibility that I could indeed be pregnant so during the first week of the irregular brown bleeding I took a pregnancy test and it did in fact say positive. I figured it was a false positive and hoped the bleeding would stop. It still hasn't so I decided to get another brand of a pregnancy test and test again. This one also came out positive. I do have an appointment coming up but I would like to get opinions. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? What tests would I expect to be done at my visit or ask for? Thanks.
