Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, when my son was 2 years old, he had a dark red spot on his cheeks whenever he got fever. Whenever he had fever, the spot reappeared at exact same place. we were giving him Crocin/Calpol. So my pediatrician suggested he might have Fixed Drug Eruption (FDE) problem with paracetamol. So he suggested to use Meftal-P instead. We are using Meftal-P for him for fever from more than 3 years now and the spot did not appear. Since paracetamol is such a common medicine, I am concerned if my son need to avoid that for life long? Can FDE with paracetamol go away with time? Are there any ill effects if my son keep using Meftal as an alternate for paracetamol for fever? Please suggest.
