High FBS, PPBS Levels After Taking Insulin. On Low Dosage. Solution?
my mother is a diabetes patient. In the last saturday she had been checked up her fasting and PP. It was very low then. Fasting was 85 and PP was 90. Today she again has been checked up her blood and the result is fasting is 115 and PP is 185. She regularly takes insulin . But since the last week, she takes a very low quantity of insulin. What should she do now? Please show the way.
What is the dose of Insulin your mother is taking ? Is she taking any other medications for diabetes ? What is her HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin) ?
Her sugars are in good target range. Unless she has symptoms I wouldn't call the sugar values very low.. infact it is a good control. Again if she is not feeling hypoglycemic (ie not having dizziness, sweating, uneasiness etc) I wouldn't increase or decrease you insulin dose.
I would advice you to regularly monitor the following sugar values
Fasting, 2 hr post lunch, predinner, bedtime.
Fasting and predinner should be 2hr Post lunch and bedtime sugars should be
