History Of Endometriosis. Have Adenomyosis, Cramps, Discomfort, Bloating, Weight Gain. Hysterectomy?

Hi. I am new and I have a few questions. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 20 years ago and have had 3 operations. I have had many other problems all associated with it. I was just diagnosed with Adnomyosis. I am also a DES daughter and never could have children. My doctor and I are discussing a uterin hysterectomy. I am so bloated and gaining weight. I have cramps and discomfort majority of the time. Pelvic exams are painful and intercourse is very painful as well. If I get the hysterectomy will the bloating and cramps go away. What else should I expect? Just plain sick of feeling like crap all the time. Is DES associated with this as well?

Hello ma'am.

You have forgotten to mention a basic but very important detail; your age. Your abdominal bloating could also be related to your menstrual cycle or menopause and similarly your abdominal cramps couls also be related to your menstrual cycle (a condition called dysmennorhea).

But do know this, the most definitive treatment for endometriosis or adenomyosis is certainly hysterectomy. Keeping in mind the fact that you cannot conceive is also a clear go ahead for the procedure. Please do consider this.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
