History Of Having Unprotected Sex With A HIV Positive Girl, Followed By Pep. HIV Rapid Antibody Test Negative. Chances Of Infection?

I had unprotected sex with a girl 4 or 5 times on July 31st. She confessed 4 days later she was born with hiv. I went to the hospital after she told me and they gave me pep.

I stopped taking the pep on September 9th and went to get a hiv rapid antibody test on September 11th. It was negative. Would the meds I was taking effect my results from being negative or positive? I am really worried and stressed about this and been losing sleep since this happened

I was taking truvada norvir and reyataz. What are the chances I have it? I'm really nervous and scared

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The chances of contracting HIV infection are high in your case.
The preventive anti-retroviral treatment (ART) is required.
You have mentioned that you are taking the ART treatment.
Currently the rapid antibody test is negative but this does not rule out HIV infection.
The test has to be repeated after 3 months as the rapid antibody test may show false negative results in the window period.
Window period is the period in the course of HIV infection when the antigen becomes undetectable in the serum of the patient in-spite of presence of the infection.
Window period lasts for 3 months so you are advised to get the test repeated after a period of 3 months. Drugs do not interfere with this test
Practice safe sex in future.
Use barrier contraceptive for preventing the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.

thanks and take care
