Is it in advanced stage? Hello,
After 20 to 30 years of hepatitis C infection, cirrhosis ( scarring of the liver tissue ) may occur.
Your ultrasound report of heterogenous parenchyma is suggesting that you have developed cirrohsis of liver along with dilatation of portal vein.
Scarring in your liver makes it difficult for your liver to function.
A small number of people with hepatitis C infection may develop liver cancer.
Ascites is a major complication of cirrhosis.
The development of ascites is an important landmark in the natural history of cirrhosis as it is associated with a 50% mortality over two years, and signifies the need to consider liver transplantation as a therapeutic option.
You must consult a gastroenterologist surgeon and prepare for liver transplant.
Thanks
