History Of Leg Muscle Tear. Now Have Pain In Leg. Need To Do Strengthening Exercises?

Hi Doctor....some 10 years ago I tore my muscles in the upper leg region, it was very severe and caused me to not be able to lift my leg up and now it pains me most of the time, in bed when I turn over, walking, getting my right leg into the car etc...I think I have weakened my muscles near my hip and groin, I limp from the pain most of the time and wondered what can I do..if anything..should I maybe exercise the area by swimming and try to strengthen please? the muscles seem to get stiff if I don't walk orif I sit for too long...Thankyou..Shirley

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi

my advice is to have at least x-ray of your hip joint to make sure there is no arthritic changes, if it is absolutely normal then you can try some physiotherapy.

if no improvement with physio then an MRI scan is indicated

kind regards
