Hit Shin. Why Did I Black Out, Grow Weaker, Have Tingly Arms And Legs?
Today I hit my shin very hard at the grocery store and within minutes I felt very weak. I had tunnel vision and things started to gray out. It became difficult to hear. I had to sit down and became weaker and weaker. I was given some water to drink, taken into the cooler because I began sweating very much, and splashed water on myself to cool down. I started to feel a little better then both hands became tingly up to my arm pits. I still feel very weak and it has been about 10 hours since this happened. Could the injury have caused this?
You have experienced a fainting spell. It is the body's response to an overwhelming stimulus, in your case, severe pain from the accident. When you are not ready for this type of pain, your body could respond just like what you experienced. We call it vaso-vagal stimulation. You will have fast heartbeat, youll feel very weak, and eventually pass out but only for a few seconds. Feel free to follow up if you have other querries.
Thank you,
Dr. Eric
