Hoarse Voice. Diagnosed Fluid In Vocal Cords Due To Swelling, Red Spot On Right Vocal Chord. Suggested Operation For Biopsy And Sorting Out The Fluid. Cancer?
Hello, my voice has been hoarse on and off for a couple of years. I finally went to doctor who arranged for camera to be put down my nose. The consultant said he thought I had fluid in my vocal cords as they looked swollen but also there was a red spot on the right vocal chord. He said he would arrange for an operation to do a biopsy and sort out the fluid. There are no other symptoms and he said my glands etc. were not swollen. I am beginning to panic slightly now as they have made an appointment for the operation in just over a weeks time. Could this be cancer?
Hello Welcome to healthcaremagic; Hoarseness of voice is one of the symptom of larynx cancer. But it is also symptom of so many different laryngeal condition like benign polyps,GERD,allergy etc . If you smoke and use alcohol, chances of cancer becomes high. But don't jump in conclusion until you get your biopsy report. And for laryngeal cancer there are very good treatment options and cure rates are very high. Regards
