Hoe Can Stiffness And Pain In The Neck Be Treated?

Can a naturally fused neck vertebrae c2, c3 & c4 be taken apart so normal movement be obtained again? I was just told they have fused. It could have been caused by any or all if my past issues: too much chiropractic adjustments over 40 years, or because I was hit from behind in the car at a sitting stopped position or because I was given Flagyl medication 4 different times, and each time I took it it caused my neck muscles,& tendons to freeze up, never to release even after deep tissue massages. With lack if movement it may have caused the fusion? Or the Dr. Now says I have RA but it may be a result due to chronic GI issues over 15 years. I want my neck movement back.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Flagyl does not have any such side effect that can cause fusion of the C2, C3, C4 vertebrae. You need to visit ER & get examined & evaluated to estimate the range of normal neck movement that can be obtained again. Neck stiffness is a sign of Spondylitis, RA or peripheral neuropathy. Severe side effect of flagyl or if you are allergic to it may cause peripheral neuropathy complications resulting in neck or muscle stiffness. Avoid Flagyl intake & take some other substitute medication when required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
