Hospitalized For Typhoid Fever, Negative In Typhidot. Could This Be Misdiagnosis ?
I was hospitalized last Nov. 8 for Typhoid Fever. That's my doctor told me but I was negative in Typhidot. Was it possible I was misdiagnosed? I got shots of ceftriaxone and was out of the hospital after 4 days. I taught I'd be fine but after 3 days I vomited almost every morning for 1 week. it's been two weeks since my last episode of vomiting but I'm still feeling weak and sometimes nausetead. My cbc and abdominal ultrasound is normal. Why am I still feeling weak?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I red your history given here and I could say that the titration test (Widal) is the gold test and that ought to be carried out, if it has been clinically diagnosed then it may not be mistaken, because in certain infections the clinical diagnosis is important rather than the lab. test, vomiting is one of the symptom of typhoid infection and it may flairs up with gastritis induced due to antibiotic, but this will come around with the antiemetic drug and proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole and Dompridone ) are the drug of choice, you can still go for widal test because the titration remains high even after the successful treatment in convalescence phase which is the indication of typhoid fever, hope this will clear your doubt have good health.
