Hot Flushes After Hysterectomy. Is Menopause Over Now Or Will It Come Back ?

Hi my name is AAA, I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago now and was left with my ovaries. The first week after the operation I had hot flushes for two nights then again the following week for another two days. After a few months of nothing I started having hot flushes every night. (They don't make me sweat profusely or anything though) I just stopped having hot flushes now for a couple of weeks and I was wondering if menopause is over now or could the hot flushes come back again next month?

hello Mrs AAA,

menopause don't occur suddenly, its gradual process. so it may take 3-4 months or one year. so there is every chance that hot flushes will reoccur in next month. may be see your gynecologist for Hormone Replacement Therapy if it worsens.

wish you good health

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Menopause is a stage in which there will be hormonal variations in body. its a process where body tries to adjust to new changes. it takes few months to get adjusted for this.need not have to worry as its a physiological phenomenon.
engage yourself in other useful activities, so that all these changes go unnoticed.
Consult your doctor for examination and management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Vidya
