How Azelistine Affects Hypertension?
I m on bisoprolol and quinipril for hypertension. Just visited ENT Dr and rhinitis was diagnosed. Prescribed AZELISTINE, generic of ASTELIN, as you well know. Unable to find info as to how med affects hypertension. Many sites but not complete. Afraid to use the spray. Thank you

This is a good question. Azelastine is a potent antihistaminic, but fortunately very selective; as a spray, it tends to have only action at the nasaopharyngeal mucosa, and not much systemic absorbtion; it does not affect blood pressure significantly or have major interactions with cardiovascular drugs that we commonly use.
