How Accurate Are FSH Test For Early Perimenopause?

How accurate are FSH test for early perimenapause? I will be 47 in 4 months. My periods are usually pretty normal. This month my period came about 2 weeks early. Heavy and lasting longer. Just when I think I may be done I bleed more. I have been doing this for a week. My dr did a blood test. Thyroid was good.FSH was 9.5 so she said it my not be related to perimenapause. I have been told this test is not accurate. Your thought?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the peri menopausal symptoms vary widely and the relevance depends upon the estrogen deficiency produced by lack of ovarian functioning. If the estrogen level report is available with you, kindly share with me during follow up discussion, so that better guidelines can be figured out ahead.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
