Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am struggling.. I am pregnant and did not know my due date until my third trimester when my doctor did ultrasound measurements. He said I am due September 10th. I am worried because I had sex with my now fiance December 22nd but we broke up and I stupidly had a one night stand around January 3rd with a different guy... how accurate are the measurements for the due date and is there a chance the second guy is the dad... please help
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Due date for pregnancy (Expected Date of Delivery - EDD) is calculated usually by taking datr of last menstrual period (LMP). Also, it can be calculated by ultrasound measurements by means of obstretic scan. In either case, there could be a variation of +/- one week to ten days from the due date. At term, if the scan report states fetal maturity is good, mode of delivery can be planned and one need not wait till the due date. It is not possible to predict who could be the father of the child at this stage. It can be confirmed by means of DNA fingerprint analysis (Genetic testing) to know who is the father of the child. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
