How Accurate Is Oral Swab Hiv Test Conclusive At 4 Months?

HI my question is about the oral swab hiv test done at a public health center.....is it conclusive at 4 months post possible exposure? My husband relapsed on drugs 4 months ago using a dirty syringe, he tested at 4 months and results were negative at 4 months. Is this considered 100% accurate or does he need retested. Im extremely worried and stressed about this. after his test we had sex but now im worried he has passed it to me and I am breastfeeding our baby. Thanks

Thanks for your query at HCM!
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends that all people between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV regardless of risk by Rapid Oral HIV Test and about approximately 92% for test sensitivity.
I suggest you can get tested at authorized center using blood to be sure at 4 months by HIV ELISA and p24 Combo test. But make sure to repeat the test again after 6 months.
You can also get tested for the same. You can stop breastfeeding if having doubt.
Take care!
