How Advisable Is To Increase The Atorvastatin Dosage In A Patient With The Below Lipid Test Results?
I have been taking 40mg of Atovastatin for many years. I am 71 and my doctor would like to increase the dose to 80mg. My last lipid test results were as follows: Cholesterol 4.6 Triglycerides 0.8 HDL1.89 LDL 2.3 Chol / HDL Ratio Is this an advisable strategy? I have not had a heart attack but have had a stent placed in an important artery 20 years ago when a build up of plaque was found. I am pre diabetic but have no other symptoms of heart disease (no angina or labored breathing) I walk several times a week.

I really appreciate your concern, if the test result comes as it is even after the treatment of lipid increased then dose of the drugs can be increased but best way to do some exercise before increasing the dose hope this information helps.
