How Can chronic Cough Along With Sleep Apnea Be Treated?

ok, I am having a chronic cough. It has been going on for the past 2 weeks approximately. I have a constant runny nose but no congestion. I also have chronic sleep apnea for which I use a bi-pap machine. I am also diabetic with heart problems(2 stents) and the beginnings of liver disease. I cough very hard especially at night. When I cough I sometimes feel as though I may pass out. My vision goes I m not sure if I should go to the ER or wait for my regular dr. appt. in 2 days.

Hello,

OK, you have many diseases so a cough may have different origins.

One possibility is post nasal drip caused by the constant running nose, allergic rhinitis, that can cause a cough.

You can use antihistamines such Benadryl or Cetirizine to stop this allergic rhinitis.

Another possible cause is heart disease and you should keep your blood pressure within normal range.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
