How Can pain In The Lower Abdomen And Lower Back be Treated?

Hey, my name is Christina and I m 22 years old. I ve been have really bad lower abdomen and lower back pain after I had my son October. I thought maybe it was something to do with that, but then the pains were still coming. It s not an everyday thing, but I ll say at least 4 or 5 days out of 7 I hurt. I ve lost several pounds and my waist seems like it has shrunk. I have been urinating more frequently, and it feels like alot of pressure in that area. I have also become less energetic and more fatigue. What could this be? It s been going on for about a year now and I m scared it may be something much more serious than I m expecting. I ve went to the doctor and they have ran test to rule out everything before they run other rest to check for cancer. Most my tests have come back negative, which makes me terrified that its something worse. Please help! I don t know what to do!

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As post delivery of a baby, there will be a weakness of the muscles of the abdomen, spine and pelvic floor.

That is one of the reasons that most females are requested to undergo simple exercises to regain muscle strength post delivery. Also, kegel exercises will be good for urine control.

Exercises for abs will include core stability, spinal muscle strengthening exercises, hip muscle strengthening exercises, static Quadriceps, and static hamstring.

This will help to reduce the pain in the lower and pelvic floor. Also, it's good that all test has come negative as cancer, not something to be looking out for at your age with not much history about it.

You should be fine with simple exercises of low intensity and diet modification.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
