Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can severe Amyotrophic Laterals Sclerosis Be Treated?
I have a friend with ALS , I don t much about her symptoms, nor the type . She has been in treatment, rehab . In and out of hospital. Presently she seems to be In denial of a lot. That goes without saying. My question is the longevity of living with the disease?
I would explain that this is a disease with a bad prognosis. This means that most of the patients get intubated (assisted ventilation) after 5 years since the beginning of the disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
