Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m trying to help my husband. He has chronic back pain for many years (30+), has had several surgeries, now working with a pain clinic MD. His latest dx is Disc bulging and bone spurs. Is there any way you can take the time to discuss his issues any further? Or do you think this is too in depth to discuss in this venue? Thank you, Donna S. Lunsford Sorry I wasted your time. I don t have ability to pay online.
Thanks for your question Donna. U havent wasted anyone's time. This is exactly why we are here: to serve. Coming to your question, based on the history you provided he seems to have a condition known as Intervertebral disc prolapse or PIVD. My advice would be bed rest, neurobion Tablets once a day and ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for pain. i would also like you to consult your doctor about the use of gabapentin injection as a supportive measure while changing your mattress to a higher density soft one and a the use of accupressure to relieve the pain
Back pain often becomes a chronic problem. To reduce the problems or get relief of it you can modify your life style. Do not bend your body forward, no lifting of heavy objects, do some physiotherapy I.e spinal flexion and extension exercises, adequate Bed rest, keep your body weight reduced, apply L/S belt while working and can go for MRI to see if there is any spinal canal stenosis or other problem.
