Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I delivered 13 months ago a beautiful baby girl. I have had lower back pain since. When I consulted a NP she gave me steroid shots. These helped eliminate the pain for a few days. the pain is local and when i press on my tailbone it feels like a bad bruise and hurts. If I swivel my upper to the right it aches and if I arch my Back or try to stand up straight. My feet also go numb if I sit with my legs crossed for too long or run 500 meters. I am also a Busty person currently a 38 I. which is the smallest I ve been since delivery, largest was 38 M. Did I fracture my tailbone, or maybe I m having back pain from the weight of my chest? When I shower and hold my breast the pressure in my lower back is temporarly relieved.
congratulations for having precious baby. I would like to know if you had Csection or normal and if you are still Nursing your baby. I agree your bust size might be a factor in causing back pain it could also be due to Vitamin D and calcium deficiency in lactating women. Lactation depletes vitamins and minerals through Milk fed to baby therefore you need to take multivitamins and calcium supplements on continuing basis for at least six months to one year even after you stop feeding the baby.
doing mild stretches and yoga if possible, wearing proper shoes with sole support while standing for long or while going for walks and following good balanced posture will help relief of back ache.
for coccyx bone or tail bone pain use doughnut pillows to help pain relief and for symptoms of numbness see if nerve compression is the cause and also take Vitamin B12 to help these symptoms. Hope this help you to enjoy your time with baby.
