How Can severe Migraine Headache Along With Vomiting Be Treated?

I suffer from weather related migraines, during the spring/summer months it can be up to 5 a week. They are triggered most noticeably by rainfall, I can feel oncoming weather patterns 24 hours before they arrive. I generally have a 72 hour ocular pain (pre-drome,migraine,pro-drome?), and 30 minutes prior to rainfall I begin to yawn uncontrollably. To treat it I use 2 extra-strength Advil migraines softgels every 4 hours, this aborts the migraine 75% of the time with rest. The other 25% are generally introduced during sleep, I wake up in full nauseated migraine mode (12 hours of hell as I call it). The only effective medication I have found in 20 years are the Imitrex injections, treatment is usually 2 separate injections that are 4 hours apart. This treatment sadly only works about 75% of the time, which leaves me questioning my reasons to live the other 25%. A severe episode for me is typically 12 hours, the throbbing pain is worsened immensely by light, sound, movement, bending over. I tend to vomit for the first 6-8 hours (I vomit immediately after an injection also), the pain becomes tolerable after about 12 hours. Sweating is a big issue, as generally I am shivering at the same time; this usually stops when the vomiting does. I also take Amytriptiline and Topiramate which has helped reduced the number/severity. My lower lumber has deteriorated over the years from the constant bending/vomiting, it is now a fused mess that only worsens with each migraine. I know I cannot physically do this for another 20 years, what options are there out there for me?

Hello,

In my opinion, we should control your migraine through lifestyle modifications and controller drugs so that future migraine attacks can be prevented.

Follow these steps for better symptomatic relief in migraine:

2. Avoid Fasting and take your meals timely.
3. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
4. Avoid excessive sun exposure.
5. Take sound sleep of 6-8 hours.
6. Take Propranolol and Flunarizine combination at night time before going to sleep.
7. Your migraine will be controlled by all these steps.
