How Can severe Nausea Along With Vomiting Be Treated?
My son is 27 with no history of health problems . There is no immediate family hx of thyroid dx . He has for several yrs now been stricken with sudden drop in his body temperature & nausea . He takes HOT showers to get warm and is extremely thirsty after getting out . He drinks cold beverages , which causes him to throw up. He was admitted once during an episode , but nothing ever was conclusive . He is reluctant see see a doctor now , but as his mother , I am very concerned as this continues to happen . I have read a little about Hasimotos . Any ideas of what type of physician we should look for ?
Generally with symptoms like nausea and temperature changes it might be better to see a general physician first and after asking questions and examining him the doctor will have an idea of the likely problem and if there is a need for referral and where.
Thyroid problems can cause problems similar to your son so it is best to rule it out by having a TSH and FT4 test. If these tests come out normal then your son does not have the symptoms due to thyroid problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
