How Can severe Vomiting Along With Abdominal Pain Be Treated?

My husband is vomiting brown liquid since yesterday -- it is almost 8 hours now. He feels fine after vomiting, but has pain in the middle of his stomach before he vomits. Could this be blood?? He had a perforated bowel the end of January this year and was hospitalized--it was treated with antibiotics and he was released---last week he had a colonosposy and that was all right. He is 81 yrs. old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This brown liquid of vomiting , might be blood and it is called hematemesis. It can be caused by a bleeding gastric ulcer, it may related to what he has eaten, or it could be fecal matter. I suggest him to go to the Emergency Room for e better evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards,
