How Can ADHD Be Diagnosed?

My grandson has type one diabetes and celiac s disease. He in my opinion does not have ADHD. His mother insists that he displays symptoms. Because he is a type one diabetic his diet medication and exercise absolutely affect his behaviors and moods. This is not to be confused with ADHD. How can I prove to her that he does not suffer from attention deficit disorder

Hi

Greetings from HealthcareMagic!

You can understand your anxiety as you are in a very great medical confusion. ADHD is most common condition in childhood.
Symptoms include
1. inattention symptoms (hard time paying attention, day dreams, frequent forgetting of things)
2. hyperactivity symptoms (constant movement, over talkitive, cannot be steady)
3. impulsive symptoms (speaks without thinking, runs without seeing traffic, interrupts others )

You can judge by the above symptoms. In my opinion diabetic medication, exercise and food may not alter child behavior. In fact exercise improves ADHD. So please check for the symptoms. If symptoms are continuous for more than 6 months we can suspect ADHD. If not symptoms will be on and off in which we can exclude ADHD.

Take Care!
