Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am researching ADHD medication for my 16 yr old son. He takes 50 mg Vyvanse with 4 mg Intuniv. It does not seem to be working. It appears that Intuniv makes a lot of people sleepy. I am wondering if reducing the intuniv may be a good idea. Obviously, I will talk to his doctor but wondering your thoughts until our next appt.
Hello I read carefully your question and understood your concern.
Intuniv (guanfacine) is a prescription medicine used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children who are at least 6 years old.
In my opinion, you should not take this medicine in smaller amounts than recommended because this may make your son's condition worse, and he can have unpleasant symptoms.
Anyway i suggets to talk with your son's treating doctor before you decide to reduce the dose of his drugs.
Hope my information is helpful. If you have other questions, feel free and ask.I will be happy to help. Thank you for using HCM. Kind regards.
