I am a 69-year-old male. It may not be pertinent, but both my maternal grandmother and mother suffered from Alzheimer s. In the not too distant past I believe I read that B-2 100mcg taken daily is beneficial for brain health for seniors. Now that I want to confirm my recollection, I can t find a sold answer. Please advise.
I understand your concern and would like to tell you that Alzheimer's disease can't be be prevented but with the help of healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Factors like physical activity, healthy eating and keeping your brain active through lifelong learnings reduces the risk of dementia.
Specific Alzheimer prevention strategies include -Avoid smoking -Control vascular risk factors, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes -Eat a balanced diet—such as the Mediterranean diet—that's rich in vegetables, fruits and lean protein, particularly protein sources containing omega-3 fatty acids -Be physically and socially active, including engaging in aerobic exercise -Take care of your mental health -Use thinking (cognitive) skills, such as memory skills
