What is the difference bewteen asperger s in children and asperger s in adults? Also, I want to get off of my current medications, however, I need them to control my symptoms. What can I do to control my symptoms so that I will not have to rely on my medications? Also, what are the chances that I will be stuck with asperger s for the rest of my life?
Asperger's syndrome in children manifests with symptoms of one sided conversation with peers & adults. Children with AS may have difficulty in motor skills like running, walking, etc. They may have difficulty in making friends, have inappropriate behaviors & manners.
In adults the symptoms may manifest as trouble in interpreting gestures, difficulty in face reading, poor eye contact, they may have difficulty in recognizing other people's feelings, etc.
Initially you need medicines. As the problems reduce the medicines can be tapered or monitored according to the severity of the discomfort by the treating doctor. Never stop medicines without informing the doctor.
