Hello,

Clostridium difficile is symptomatic infection, the causative organism is spore forming bacterium, C. Diff. certain risk factors are there like use of antibiotic and PPI (Proton pump inhibitor) it is better to avoid this for early cure of disease.

Else it can be well controlled with tablet Metronidazole 400 mg twice in day, and other sensitive drugs, long term treatment may needed depends upon the severity of case, but recurrence is likely.

Sometime disease may remain asymptomatic, immune system really plays the big role strong immune system may cure the disease, with diet restriction and drug restriction, probiotic can be used too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
