How Can Crohn S Disease Be Treated?

Hi, My gastroenterologist has recommended a treatment of Entyvio for my Crohns. I am allergic to 4 of the 5 drugs previously prescribed, the worst of which was Rhemicade. That one put me into a 9 month lupus-induced reaction. My question is if Entyvio might also have the same side effects as Rhemicade. I am a 69 year old female. Crohns was first diagnosed at the age of 20. I ve had 2 feet of small and 2 feet of large intestine removed previously.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Most common side effects of Entyvio include a runny nose, sore throat, respiratory infection such as bronchitis or sinus infection, headache, joint, pain, nausea, fever, fatigue, cough, flu, back pain, rash or itchy skin.

It's a way of functioning is different, it is an adhesion molecule inhibitor. As you have been allergic to 5 other drugs it doesn't mean you will be also on Entyvio.

You may try it, this is the only way to see if everything is going to be alright and hopefully you won't have lupus like reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Suzana Zharri, General & Family Physician
