Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I used to take Nystatin powder by Paddock for many years which had beneficial feffects for my Crohn s disease. I understand this powder is mo longer available. The oral suspension has a lot of sucrose in it. Since sugar feeds yeast & I have had to take antibiotics& experienced yeast overgrowth, I would prefer to avoid this. The compounding pharmacist has the powder available with a prescription but it does not say oral suspension & is used topically. The compounding pharmacist said that I could take the powder orally that is used topically? Is this safe??
