How Can Crohn S Disease Be Treated?

I need to know what to do, when my doctor won t budge on removing me off of remicade for Crohn s disease, I have had it 15 years. I am still having bowel issues, where I am going nearly 20 times a day and its pure liquid. Very seldom do I get formed stool. I ve even asked for a second medicine for my crohns and he says no, because my lab work specifically for remicade keeps coming back as its still in my system... Its not helping , I cant have a normal life. I don t even KNOW what a normal life is anymore. I m losing hope...... And i just don t know what else to do..

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes Remicade may cause t-cell lymphomas of liver and spleen.

But if liver function tests normal means you can use corticosteroid, antibiotics, immunosuppressants, immunomodulators etc.

After getting of remission you may maintain a therapy of maintenance with low dose drug.

In case of any flare up need to hike the dose. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
