How Can DI Be Tested In Children?
My daughter is 6 years old she drinks up to two to three gallons of water a day . She pees constantly. She does not have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. I want her tested for water diabetes insipidus. Why does it seem like the doctors want to fight you over getting your daughter tested. And how do you test for water diabetes insipidus. And yes I know there are three types of diabetes insipidus I want to know how you test a small child for diabetes insipidus.

Diabetes insipdus has same sign and symptoms as diabetes mellitus. DM should be excluded by one FBS, One random blood sugar or HBA1C.
Diabetes insipdus has three types.
central, nephrogenic, primary polydipsia that is associated with mantle illness.
We are doing water deprivation test, MRI Brain with contrast, urinalysis.
if these were inconclusive and family history is positive for DI then Genteic testing for AVPR gene and AQP2 gene.
if all were inconclusive then consult psycitrist.
Genetic testing is done in specific research centres.
