How Can Depakote Dosage Be Lowered While On Treatment For Mania?

My daughter , age 43...recently was hospitalized with mania....in a psychiatric unit for 10 days....she went home on Depockote 500mg (2) at HS. She went to an intensive outpatient program and was still dealing with her mania. We have been unable to get care in the psychiatric medical community even though she has Blue Cross. She finally has an appoint with an ANP Aug 16h. She is now taking only one Depokote at HS....how does she decrease them to none safely? She is so depressed she cannot function...except to sleep, eat and go to the bathroom. She has a flat effect and appears to have no emotions. She states she feels nothing right now. There is no danger or her harming herself or others.

Hi,

You cannot alter the dosage yourself you have to do it under the advise of a well qualified doctor or it maybe harmful.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
