Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Dexilant for approximately a year and a half. It was amazing. However, in the last month my GERD has returned with a veangance. I checked my prescription bottle and realized that the last prescription from Express Scripts (TRICARE FOR LIFE) was for the generic. Coincidence? It seems that the generic is not working as the Dexilant did. Note: I am not having any forbidden foods or drinks.
Hello. I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. The issues with GERD do need the medicines. Non pharmacological measures include 1. avoiding spicy foods 2. avoiding beverages and fizzy drinks. 3. avoiding non veg food. 4. raising the head end of the entire bed while sleeping. 5. avoiding late meals. 6. maintaining a food cycle- eat on time. 7. In addition, sometimes GERD may be caused by obesity- loosing weight would help. 8. Sometimes excess gastritis is caused by an infection by H Pylori. Antibiotics will be needed for this.
I have tried to tell you as many non pharmacological measures as possible. Continue dexlansoprazole twice a day half hour prior to meals. If possible. test a UGI endoscopy.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. Feel free to contact us for any information you may need in addition. Best wishes, Dr Mittal
