Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto disease. I wanted to try to treat it with a natural approach. I was prescribed Armour Thyroid. That was February 14th of this year. I am not seeing a very good improvement. Should we try increasing the dosage (taking 15mg) before reverting to a synthetic pharmaceutical. I am a 55 year old woman who is post menopausal. Just reading the side effects of Synthroid frightened me. What is your opinion on the Armour Thyroid vs. Synthroid.
Hashimoto's thyroidities is an autoimmune disorder of thyroid gland initially hyper later hypothyroidism. you are advised to take Levothyroxine tablets daily and monitor TSH ultrasensitive and free T4 levels every 3 month to monitor levels so that the dose can be adjusted.
However, armor thyroid dose adjustment can be done but first get the TSH and free T4 value done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Peeyush Kumar Saini,
