How Can Hoshimoto S Thyroid Disorder Be Confirmed?

Hi Doc, How do I know if I have Hoshimoto s thyroid disorder? I have a history in my family of Hyper and Hypo Thyroid disorders. Im asking because, I notice all of the symptoms seem very familiar…especially, the depression, anxiety and mood disorders I suffer from. As well as weight gain, etc

Check TSH level. If it's normal, you are 90 percent unlikely to be hypothyroid. If you check t4 along with that, then you can ensure your pituitary is also fine. If your TSH is high, then check your anti thyroid peroxidase antibody level, if that's positive, you can confirm that you have Hashimotos disease. No need to go for ant fancy investigation for that purpose.
