How Can I Have HVS2 If Both Me And My Partner Tested Negative For It?

I was diagnosed with HVS2 last month. I am a 52 year old women who has been in a monoganous relationship for 6 years. My boyfriend was tested and his results were negative, We both were tested through blood tests after I had an initial outbreak last year. Everything I read states the incubation period for HVS2 is 2-14 days. I have only had one partner in 7 years. This is perplexing.

Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
There is something called window period in the HIV infection. Many times even after sero-conversion, the test may not come positive due to low viral load. This wondow period is normally for 15 days to 1 month and if your husband or you are tested during such a window period then the test may come back negative. That could be one of the explainable reason for you both testing negative initially and then you getting positive.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
