How Can Lutein Dosage Be Reduced?

I currently under treatment for macular eye - my age is 73 and diagnosed 2 years ago. From the various pills offer for this problem and told to use Al Reds 2 formula and take 10 mg of lutin daily. I realize that over time that what I take daily is 20mg of lutin. Is this OK or should I slowly reduce the amount taken down to the 10 or OK with the 20mg Thank you
