How Can MRSA Be Treated?

H dr. Just recently we got MRSA -aureus outbreak and our family GP prescribed me some really strong antibiotic to take and as well used the bactroban nasal cream in our nose..after 2 weeks, I undergo another nose swab and results says MRSA non isolated which simply means I totally got rid of them right? This week though, I started getting itchy rashes on my bum check...when I took the antiobitic weeks ago, they all cleared up , do you think I still got those bugs that s why I am getting this rashes again.? I am a truck driver and I sit for 10hours driving every week. I am having bleach bath once a week and use chlorhexidine surgical soap daily too. Thanks and hope you can enlighten me with this

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is definitely possible that it is a recurrence of the infection. Your doctor will want to reassess the area and may consider a swab to see if this is related to the previous infection. If it is, then another course of antibiotics is needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
